Did you know: Librada Avelino

Educator Librada Avelino was born on Jan. 18, 1873, in Manila. Avelino and her friends founded in 1907 the Centro Escolar de Señoritas, the first nonsectarian national school for girls, which is known today as the Centro Escolar University. Avelino, who became the school’s first president, died on Nov. 9, 1934. Marielle Medina, Inquirer Research
