MANILA, Philippines—The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) will summon Jesus Arranza, chairman of the Federation of Philippine Industries, to shed light on questions regarding big time rice smuggler David Tan.

Arranza earlier said authorities should review the case filed by Singaporean businessman against David Tan in 2005.

De Lima said the Singaporean complainants could surely identify who is the David Tan they know.

“I also told the NBI to go over the records of the case (violation of Electronic Pilferage Act) for the purpose of getting more information about David Tan,” De Lima told reporters Thursday.

Early this week, Davidson Bangayan, suspected to be the big time rice smuggler David Tan, appeared before the Department of Justice to clear his name. After meeting with Justice Secretary Leila De Lima, he went to the NBI who took him in due to an existing warrant of arrest for violation of Anti-Pilferage Act of 1994.
