MANILA, Philippines—A 4.4 magnitude earthquake shook parts of California Wednesday morning (local time), the US Geographical Survey (USGS) said.
The epicenter of the earthquake was located five kilometers north of Fontana at a shallow depth of 5.2 kilometers, the website said.
The earthquake occurred at 9:35 a.m. GMT, the USGS said.
California sits atop the San Andreas Fault, known as a “master” fault of an intricate fault network that cuts through rocks of the California coastal region, the USGS said on its website.
