MANILA, Philippines—Senator Vicente Sotto III on Wednesday challenged the Land Transportation and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) to cancel the franchises of other erring bus companies involved in fatal vehicular accidents.

Sotto made the call following the cancellation of franchise of the Don Mariano Transit Corporation after one of its bus units was involved in a Skyway accident that killed 21 passengers and hurting many others.

The senator said the LTFRB should not limit its focus on the Don Mariano bus company but also to other bus companies to ensure the safety of the riding public.

He, however, praised the LTFRB for its “brave action” against Don Mariano bus Transit.

On Monday, the LTFRB permanently revoked the franchise of the Don Mariano Bus Transit after it was found guilty of several violations.
