2 cops, 4 others nabbed for drugs

MANILA, Philippines—Two armed policemen and four others allegedly involved in a drug syndicate and gun for hire group were arrested Wednesday in an encounter with  the military and National Bureau of Investigation operatives in Batangas.

In a radio report, the firefight between the suspects and the  Philippine Army, Philippine Air Force and NBI forces occurred in Barangay (village) Bambang in Calaca town.

No injuries  were reported.

The arrest ensued after the government forces raided two residential areas where they found the suspects.

A still undetermined amount of shabu or methamphetamine hydrochloride, four firearms, including several armalite and. 45-cal pistols were recovered in the scene.

Further investigation was ongoing.
