Bad weather strands 4,000 in Sorsogon, Cebu

MANILA, Philippines—A total of 4,217 passengers are stranded in the ports of Matnog in Sorsogon and Cebu City due to bad weather caused by a low pressure area off Mindanao, according to the Philippine Coast Guard.

Cmdr. Armand Balilo, chief of the Coast Guard’s  public affairs office, said  3,870 of the stranded passengers were at the port of Matnog in Sorsogon  while 347 other passengers were stranded in Cebu City.

Balilo disclosed in a text message to the Inquirer that 45 trips of interisland vessels in the two areas were cancelled because of bad weather.

The cancelled trips were supposed to originate from Tagbilaran City (27), Cebu (14) and Matnog (four), Balilo added.
