MANILA, Philippines — Vice President Jejomar Binay on Monday welcomed the results of the recent Pulse Asia survey showing an increase in his approval and trust ratings.

The poll, conducted among 1,200 respondents from December 8 to 15 last year, also showed a slight drop in the ratings of President Benigno Aquino III.
“I am grateful for the people’s sustained trust and appreciation for our work for the past three years,” Binay said in reaction to the three percentage point increase in both his approval and trust ratings last month compared to September 2013.

Meanwhile, the Palace has yet to release a statement on Aquino’s approval rating that went down from 79 percent in September to 73 last month. The President’s trust rating also dipped to 74 percent, from 76 in September.

Senate President Franklin Drilon, whose approval rating further plunged from 50 percent to 43 in December, said he accepts that “the controversies that hounded Congress last year cost us the trust and approval of our people.”
