MANILA, Philippines—The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Monday promoted more than 11,000 policemen nationwide in a simultaneous mass oath-taking and pinning of ranks at the PNP National Headquarters.
“Bring with you a deeper commitment to our ideals and renewed sense of service as I expect you to be role models of competence, discipline, excellence and professionalism in the police force,” PNP chief Director General Alan Purisima said.
A total of 11,093 policemen were promoted to the next higher rank as part of the regular promotion program.
The PNP said 984 Police Commissioned Officers (PCO) and 10,109 Police Non-Commissioned Office (PNCO) applicants have passed the examination to fill-up 21,953 vacant positions in various ranks.
PNP said at the National Headquarters, 218 PCOs and 814 PNCOs were included in the said program assigned at Crame-Based National Support Units, Command Group and Directorial Staff.
“I expect that we will have a better implementation of our mission because of our additional force that are there to support me and the whole leadership of the National Police,” Purisima said.
Purisima said the observance of mass promotion was to give honor and recognition to newly promoted PNP uniformed personnel as well as to uplift the morale of the police force.
