3-month advance for pensioners

MANILA, Philippines—Labor Secretary Rosalinda Baldoz on Friday announced that Employees’ Compensation (EC) pensioners in the private sector in areas affected by the recent calamities may avail themselves of an advance three-month pension grant from the Social Security System (SSS).

Baldoz said Employment Compensation Commission Executive Director Stella Z. Banawis had reported that the new policy is in line with the labor department’s efforts to alleviate the suffering of workers affected by catastrophes or natural calamities.

In a resolution declaring this policy, the ECC board directed the SSS to prescribe the guidelines for the implementation of the three-month advance pension to the pensioners.
