Fire hits ISAFP building

MANILA, Philippines – Fire gutted a portion of the Intelligence Service of the Armed Forces of the Philippines at Camp Aguinaldo late afternoon on Friday.

Lieutenant Colonel Edgardo Batenga, commander of the Military Police Battalion, told reporters that the fire was caused by a faulty wiring.

The fire broke out at the Message Center of ISAFP, a single-story building that serves as the receiving area of correspondence.

Only a portion of the ceiling was damaged, Batenga said.

The fire started at 5:25 p.m. and was put out at 6:10 p.m.

“We have a drill here. We have enough firetrucks and fire stations outside the camp were also alerted. We got a lot of help. The fire was put out fast,” Batenga said.

Five firetrucks, two inside the ISAFP headquarters, were spotted near the ISAFP building.

No damages were recorded other than the ceiling, but some files got soaked when the fire was put out. No confidential files were damaged, Batenga clarified.

There were also no injuries.
