Suspect in shooting of Willie Nepomuceno’s grandson nabbed

MANILA, Philippines–One of the four suspects in the shooting of a grandson of actor-impersonator Willie Nepomuceno was arrested Friday, police said.
Senior Superintendent Reynaldo Jagmis, Marikina City police chief, told INQUIRER.net that the suspect, whom he identified as Mark Bercilla, was nabbed in Barangay (village) Marikina Heights after being tipped that the suspect was on Dao Street there.
Bercilla, with three other companions, allegedly fired at a group of four teenaged boys who were in front of a burger joint around 2:50 a.m. on Thursday. The boys, who included 16-year-old Sean Gabriel Nepomuceno, grandson of Willie, had just come out of a computer shop in front of the burger joint at the corner of Bayanbayanan and Bugallon Streets when attacked.
The young Nepomuceno sustained three gunshot wounds and had been operated on at a hospital in the city where he is recuperating. His three companions, identified as Franc Raven Jocson, Sherwin Jerome Malit, and Angelo Abistado, were slightly injured in the shooting.
Jagmis said one of Nepomuceno’s companions identified Bercilla as one of four suspects who fired at them.
He also said that witnesses were able to get the plate number of the vehicle used by the suspects who fled after the shooting. The vehicle was a white Ford Fiesta with plate number TIO 181, he added.
Jagmis also quoted witnesses as saying that the four suspects were all armed and fired at Nepomuceno’s group.
The police, however, have not recovered yet the firearms used in the shooting.
Bercilla is now under police custody and will undergo an inquest pending the filing of charges of frustrated murder, grave threat and physical injuries.
Nepomuceno is currently in the recovery room of Amang Rodriguez Hospital in Marikina City.
