The Philippine Coast Guard rescued 14 passengers and 12 crew members of a vessel on Sunday after it was stranded for 10 hours off Batangas due to engine trouble.
Lt. Cmdr. Algier Ricafrente, Coast Guard spokesperson, said MV San Carlo Uno conked out southwest of Fortune Island past 9 a.m. after leaving Lubang Island. Fortune Island is about 8.7 miles off the coast of Nasugbu, Batangas.
He said Capt. Danilo Jara of the troubled boat sent a distress call to the Coast Guard detachment in Tilik over two hours later.
