MANILA, Philippines–A Quezon City policeman was shot dead by one of the two motorcycle-riding assailants before Wednesday dawn in Taguig City, police said.
Quoting the spot report on the incident, a Taguig police desk officer said in a phone interview that two men on board a motorcycle gunned down Police Officer 1 Aldrin Castro, who was said to be assigned at the Quezon City Police District, around 4 a.m.
The killing took place at the corner of Metro Rail Transit Avenue and Castanas street in Barangay (village) North Signal.
Eyewitnesses at the scene said that Castro was also on board a motorcycle.
Police said Castro’s attackers blocked the way of the policeman and then shot him in the head.
Before fleeing, one of the men allegedly took the victim’s service firearm.
According to witnesses, both men were wearing rubber shoes. One of the men was clad in black shirt and the other wore a blue shirt.
Taguig police said the investigation is still ongoing for the identification and arrest of the killers.
