MANILA, Philippines—Parts of the Visayas and Mindanao will experience rains and thunderstorms due to a trough of a low pressure area, the state weather bureau said on Wednesday.
“Eastern Visayas, Caraga (Agusan del Norte, Agusan del Sur, Surigao del Norte, Surigao del Sur and Dinagat islands) and Northern Mindanao will experience cloudy skies with light to moderate rainshowers and thunderstorms,” the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said.
With the northeast monsoon, or hanging amihan, still affecting Luzon, Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains, Pagasa said.
Pagasa added that the rest of the country will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms.
The coldest temperature on Wednesday (20.3 degrees Celsius) was recorded at 6 a.m. at Pagasa Science Garden in Quezon City. The coldest temperature in Metro Manila so far this year was 19.2 degrees Celsius, last Jan. 1.
Moderate to strong winds blowing from the northeast will prevail over the eastern sections of Southern Luzon and of Visayas and the coastal waters along these areas will be moderate to rough.
Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate coming from the northeast with slight to moderate seas.
Fishing boats and other small seacraft are advised not to venture out into the sea while larger sea vessels are alerted against big waves along the seaboards of Southern Luzon and the Visayas due to strong to gale-force winds.
