‘Traslacion’ to pass by more Cebu City streets

/ 07:23 AM January 08, 2014

THE Augustinians announced a different route for the annual “traslacion” or ritual transfer of  religious images on Jan. 17, a Friday.

Instead of a direct route to Mandaue City, the motorcade escorting the images of the Sto. Niño and Our Lady of Guadalupe will pass by more Cebu city streets heading to the National Shrine of St. Joseph.

This route, first used in 2012,  will  start from the basilica to D. Jakosalem Street, the longest road in the city, turn right to General Maxilom  Avenue, left to  Gorordo  Avenue, right to Gov. M. Cuenco Avenue, and right again to Juan Luna Avenue and then left to MJ Cuenco Avenue.

At the boundary of the cities of Cebu and Mandaue, the images will be welcomed by Mandauehanons then escorted to the National Shrine of St. Joseph where the sacred icons will stay overnight.

They will be brought back to the basilica in a fluvial procession the following day, Jan. 18.
