Mogsignor Clemente Ignacio said the change in route was adopted to avoid untoward incidents as recommended by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).

Ignacio said the DPWH found out that the structural stability of the MacArthur Bridge could no longer handle the bulk of devotees, who will attend the procession.
