The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said a tropical depression was sighted 800 kilometers northeast of Guam. While the cyclone was still out of the country’s area of responsibility, Pagasa said it was monitoring it because it could intensify into a supertyphoon.
So far forecast models show that the cyclone would not make landfall in the Philippines was moving northwest toward Taiwan, weather forecaster Ricky Fabregas said.
