Gunman kills target, then leaves written insult on body

/ 08:48 PM January 05, 2014

MANILA, Philippines — Not content with shooting his target, a gunman literally hurled insults at the victim, a 30-year-old fish vendor, in a market in Quezon City Saturday afternoon.

After shooting Rosenda Calanno, a resident of Maligaya Compound, Riverside Street, in Barangay (village) Commonwealth, four times in the head and neck, the shooter threw a crumpled piece of paper at the body before he escaped on a motorcycle driven by a cohort.

Written on the paper was a message which said the victim deserved her fate because she was a two-timer and an addict.

PO2 Jogene Hernandez of the Quezon City Police District’s Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit said the shooting happened at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday in front of Calanno’s stall at the Riverside Market in Barangay Commonwealth.
