AT least 50 families received gift packs from the Metropolitan Cebu Water District (MCWD) as part of its yearly Christmas outreach program.

The recipients are families living on the streets near the MCWD main building on Magallanes Street.

The packs contain rice and canned goods purchased using part of the funds supposedly intended for the water district’s corporate Christmas party.

Jessica Boayaban, 33, one of the recipients, said the gifts from MCWD is already a big help to them.

“Dako na kaayo ni ikatabang namo nga mga pobre,” she said.

Boayaban has three children aged 14, 10 and nine. Her husband is a laborer at the pier. She has been receiving gifts from MCWD for three years now.

MCWD also held a Christmas party for the 50 street children aged between six and 10 last Dec. 18.
