MANILA, Philippines — Over P117 million worth of crops were damaged by tropical storm “Bebeng” in Region 5, Radyo Inquirer reported Tuesday, quoting a report by the Department of Agriculture.
The report said that Camarines Sur was hardest hit with P99million worth of damaged crops. Albay has P10 million while Camarines Norte has P93,000.
At least P47,000 worth of poultry and livestock were affected.
The DA report said it expected more damages as the department has not yet checked the flooded areas.
Quoting Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Director Bernardo Rafael Alejandro IV, the report said that the rice, corn and other high valued crops were the most affected.
He also said that the local government was now considering how they could help the affected residents.
