MANILA, Philippines—Two witnesses in the death of Labangan, Zamboanga Del Norte Mayor Ukol Talumpa have yet to be admitted to the government’s Witness Protection Program (WPP).

Lawyer Martin Menez, acting Director of the government’s Witness Protection Program, said the witnesses have not yet filed the needed papers so that they can be processed.

The witnesses, who, according to Justice Secretary Leila De Lima, had a “clear view” of Talumpa’s shooting. They have already executed sworn statements about the incident.

The witnesses identified the gunman as Marox Amlong.

The Justice chief said politics, illegal drug trade, and clan war are among the possible motives behind the shooting.
