AS its way to help partner water districts affected by the recent calamities, the Metropolitan Cebu Water District (MCWD) purchased generator sets for four water districts in Cebu, Bohol and Leyte.
MCWD general manager Armando Paredes turned over checks worth over P30,000 each to the officials of Clarin Water District, Talibon Water District and Daanbantayan Water district for the payment of the generator sets.
Earlier, MCWD also purchased a generator set for Metro Carigara Water District in Leyte.
The water districts in Carigara and Daanbantayan were badly hit by supertyphoon Yolanda last Nov. 8, while Clarin and Talibon water districts in Bohol were severely affected by the 7.2-magnitude earthquake last Oct. 15.
Benedicta Batingal, general manager of Talibon Water District, could not thank MCWD enough for the help.
“Dako kaayo ni ug tabang namo. Ang pasalamat dili pa gani igo,” she said.
Batingal said they will be using the generator set in their office which does not have power since the earthquake.
She revealed that they could not accept payment at their office due to the lack of power supply.
