MANILA, Philippines—The new year has brought new hope for disaster survivors after President Benigno Aquino III signed the P14.6 billion supplemental budget for 2014 to fund the relief and rehabilitation of disaster-struck areas.
The supplemental budget will shoulder the funds in the rehabilitation efforts in Bohol which was struck by a 7.2 magnitude eathquake last October and in Eastern Visayas deluged by Supertyphoon ‘‘Yolanda’’ in November, the Presidential Communications Operations Office said.
PCOO Secretary Herminio Coloma Jr. said in a media briefing that the President signed the budget last December 26.
“This was the joint resolution by both houses of Congress for the allocation of P14.6 billion” Coloma said.
