Fire hits Binondo building during New Year revelry

MANILA, Philippines–As fireworks illuminated the sky, fire razed a commercial complex in Binondo, Manila just as 2014 came to being.

As of posting time, the R Square Complex has its fire under control while embers still blaze on the second floor of the four-story building.

Chief Inspector Bonifacio Carta said that the first alarm was raised at 12:24 a.m. and reached the third alarm.

Carta said that the building along Roman St. contained clothes.
