Filipinos urged: Be on time
Here’s a New Year’s resolution all Filipinos should adopt: Be on time.
Toward that end, the Department of Science and Technology has a solution—everyone synchronize their time pieces to Philippine Standard Time (PhST).
In a statement, Science and Technology Secretary Mario Montejo urged people to set their clocks to the PhST, which may be obtained from the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).
According to Montejo, “Juan Time” seeks to “reverse the negative connotations of Filipino time—from tardiness to punctuality, discipline and utmost regard for other people’s time.”
