2 quakes jolt northern Ilocos Norte town

LAOAG CITY-–Two successive earthquakes jolted the northern town of Burgos in Ilocos Norte province early morning Tuesday, one registered at magnitude 4.2 while the other at magnitude 4, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.

The mild quakes, which struck at 4:17 a.m. and 4:31 a.m., respectively, went unnoticed as reports from Burgos town, 49 km from this capital city, showed that the community woke up unaware of the early morning ground shaking.

The epicenters of these quakes were plotted at 89 km and 77 km northwest of Burgos, respectively.

The Phivolcs earthquake bulletin reported no intensities in nearby towns.

No aftershocks and earthquake-related damage and casualty was reported.
