THE Aboitiz Group announced that it has exceeded its target of P200 million to fund its relief and rehabilitation efforts in the northern Cebu towns and the fourth district of Leyte, areas hardest hit by super typhoon Yolanda.
As of Dec. 19, donations from its various business units such as UnionBank, AboitizPower, SN Aboitiz Power Inc., Aboitiz Foundation and external donors and other private individuals and corporations have reached P203 million.
The group has completed its relief distribution efforts in 106 barangays in the northern Cebu towns of Daanbantayan, Medellin, Bogo and San Remigio, and Bantayan Island and Ormoc City and the towns of Kananga, Matag-ob and Albuera in the fourth district of Leyte.
With the first phase already completed, the Aboitiz Foundation is preparing for phase two of its relief operations, which involves the rehabilitation of school buildings in northern Cebu.
Aboitiz Foundation executive vice president Sonny Carpio said about P140 million of the total funds will be allocated for the rehabilitation of damaged school buildings in northern Cebu.
