2.4 quake hits Samar
MANILA, Philippines—A 2.4 earthquake hit near Catbalogan City in Samar province at 3:06 p.m., the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said.
The inland quake struck 32 kilometers southeast of Catbalogan City at a shallow depth of 31 kilometers.
There were no reports of damage or injury.
The Philippines sits on the Pacific “Ring of Fire” where continental plates collide causing frequent seismic and volcanic activity.
