Four Central Squares Chess starts

THE FOUR Central Squares Chess Association’s year-end tournament will kick off today at the Robinson’s Cybergate.

The National Chess Federation of the Philippines (NCFP)-rated tournament is expected to gather around a hundred wood pushers vying for the top spots in the open and kiddies division.

A total of P22,000 worth of cash prizes is up for grabs in this tournament.

The tournament will be using a seven-round Swiss system format with a 25-minute time in each round. It will be following FIDE rules.

Registration fee is pegged at P150 for the kiddies tournament and P200 for the open division.

The tournament will be handled by director Eduard dela Torre and FIDE arbiter Felix Poloyapoy Jr. /CORRESPONDENT DALE G. ROSAL
