Jewelry lost in Christmas day theft

ASSORTED jewelry worth at least P250,000 was stolen in a Christmas Day burglary in barangay Bulocbuloc, Barili town, southern Cebu.

The stolen items belonged to 31-year-old Margarita Caquilala, who was away when the burglar struck.

Left to watch over the house was a 14-year-old girl.

The girl said an unidentified man broke into the house at around 7 p.m. Wednesday and covered her mouth with a handkerchief until she fell unconscious.

Caquilala arrived home about three hours after the incident and found the girl hogtied.

 Korean found dead in condo

A KOREAN woman was found dead in her condominium unit in barangay Lahug, Cebu City yesterday morning.

Police said there were were still looking into the cause of the  death of Sim Youn, 58, but initially saw no signs of foul play.

Her  body was found by another Korean, Paik Hyon Wook, also an occupant of Sopella Tower.

Paik had gone to Sim’s room to invite her for breakfast, said SPO4 Alex Dacua.

Paramedics brought Sim to the hospital where she was declared dead. Police said that according to Paik, Sim was already a paralytic when she arrived in the country three weeks ago.

 Fisherman found hanging dead

A FISHERMAN was found dead hanging by the neck on Christmas Eve in Lapu-Lapu City.

Romualdo Patigdas was found suspended from a  Tamarind tree. His wife said he  had been depressed over the mental illness of his six-year old son. /CORRESPONDENTS CHITO O. ARAGON AND NORMAN V. MENDOZA
