MANILA, Philippines – Filipino cue masters Efren “Bata” Reyes and Victor Arpilleda will rekindle their rivalry as the two pool aces collide in Mayor Boyet Ynares 10-ball billiards championship on Saturday, Dec. 28, 2013 at the Binangonan Recreation and Conference Center in Binangonan, Rizal.
“It’s nice to be playing again with Efren,” said Arpilleda, a former Southeast Asian Games gold medallist. “I feel honored to be invited to play against Efren, the world’s greatest pool player ever and I promise to play my best,” added Arpilleda.
“It’s a very interesting match,” said Ramon “Maestro Monching” Mistica, who is best remembered for beating Filipino pool legend Jose “Amang” Parica in the mid 80’s.
Mistica is the tournament director of the said billiards fest, which aims to promote billiards in the grassroots-level and to discover future world champions.
Other Filipino cue masters invited to play are Edgar “Malabon” Acaba, Romeo “Salamin” Del Rosario, Rodrigo “Edgie Marilao” Geronimo, Kenken Arpilleda, Danny Joy Trazona, Alex Lumpay, Tata “Puti” Bautista and former World Junior of Pool 3rd placer Jonas Magpantay.
The one-day 10-ball invitational event is hosted by Binangonan, Rizal Mayor Boyet Ynares in cooperation with Puyat Sports and supported by Philippine Billiards God Father Aristeo “Putch” Puyat. /Correspondent Marlon Bernardino
