10 cops cited for bravery at Napolcom’s 45th founding anniversary

MANILA, Philippines — Ten police officers were cited for their bravery during the National Police Commission’s (Napolcom) 45th founding anniversary celebration in Makati City on Thursday.

“The act of bravery of these police officers clearly manifests their commitment to serve and protect the people,” Napolcom vice chairman Eduardo Escueta said.

Police Superintendent Edgar Alan Okubo, Commander of Provincial Office who through his leadership have arrested most wanted persons in Nueva Ecija and Police Officer (PO) 1 Eduardo Santiago, Bayambang Police station Pangasinan who risked his life in the hostage-taking in North Luzon Expressway are among the awardees.

Others are Senior Police Officer (SPO)4 Hernane Osano, Midsayap Municipal Police Station North Cotabato; SPO 3 Dante Obenza, Lianga Municipal Police Station in Surigao del Sur; PO3 Osorio Ramiso Jr. of Regional Police Community Relations Division; PO1 Kennel Tafalla, PO1 Shelwin Portajada and PO1 Elmer Tisado all from Regional Public Safety Batallion; SPO2 Nilbert Porlucas and PO1 Teodoro Casison,  both from the Quezon City Police District.

Representative Emilio Abaya of the first district of Cavite was also awarded with a plaque of appreciation for his accomplishments in public service, said Napolcom chairman Jesse Robredo.
