MANILA, Philippines—The Philippine National Police confirmed Tuesday that a court in Makati city has approved the request of alleged pork barrel scam mastermind to spend longer hours with her family this Christmas and New Year.

Chief Superintendent Reuben Theodore Sindac, PNP-PIO chief, said Napoles’ visitors will be allowed to enter her detention from 1 p.m. of December 24 up to 1 a.m. on Christmas day.

On New Year’s Eve, visitors will also be allowed from 1 p.m. until to 1 a.m. on January 1, 2014.

Visitors will not be allowed to bring food, Sindac said, noting that only eight immediate relatives will be allowed inside the detention facility.

Napoles’ visitors were normally given from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. visiting hours from Tuesday to Friday, and 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on weekends.

Napoles is currently detained in Fort Sto. Domingo in Sta. Rosa, Laguna in connection with the serious illegal detention charges filed by former aide-turned state witness Benhur Luy.
