Man shot dead in Quezon City

MANILA, Philippines – A man was killed after he was allegedly shot by motorcycle-riding suspects in Quezon City  Tuesday morning, police said.

Senior Police Officer 1 Hilario Nobato of Quezon City Police District-Station 6 identified the victim as Roderick Laurente, 44, who was shot dead by two unidentified men at Don Fabian Street in Barangay (village) Commonwealth in Quezon City around 7:25 a.m.

Nobato said the suspects were said to have been onboard a motorcycle but it didn’t have a licence plate.

A radio report quoted police as saying that they were looking at illegal drugs as possible motive behind the killing as relatives of the victim allegedly admitted that Laurente had been using illegal drugs.

Investigations were still ongoing, Nobato said.
