R. Burgos, mother of Inquirer reporter, dies

ILOILO CITY – Dr. Remedios Papelera-Burgos of Barangay Fabrica, Sagay City, Negros Occidental province, died on December 21 from a stroke. She was 78.

Burgos was a former company physician of Lopez Sugar Corp. in Barangay (village) Paraiso, Sagay City. She also worked at the Cadiz City Puericulture Center and Insular Lumber Co. Hospital in Barangay Fabrica.

She is survived by children  Dr. Ma. Renee Burgos-Barredo,  Alfredo Barredo, Noel and Inquirer Visayas chief of correspondents Nestor Jr.; grandchildren Stephanie Nicole, Justine Anne and Lance Matthew; and siblings Aida Ballarta, Heginio, Dr. Ma. Dena Javier, Florentino Jr., Emmanuel and Nilo.

Her remains lie at the Burgos residence in Barangay Fabrica. Interment is on Dec. 30 at Cadiz City Catholic Cemetery after a Mass at  2 p.m. at Sto. Rosario Parish Church in Barangay Paraiso.
