Cops hunt butcher for killing live-in partner in Quezon City

MANILA, Philippines — A butcher said to have been overcome with jealousy stabbed dead and even mutilated the body of his live-in partner on Sunday night in Quezon City.

Donnabelle Gamayon, 30, died right inside the rented home she shared with her lover, with her breast and cheek slashed.

Police Officer 2 Hermogenes Capili, the case investigator, said the suspect, Alberto Balde, 37, has been missing and was believed to have taken with him the victim’s left nipple, which he allegedly sliced off.

Gamayon, a security guard and Balde, a butcher, have been living together for the past six months. Gamayon had two children from a previous relationship.

The murder happened at around 8:30 p.m. Sunday inside a rented room on Sampaguita Street, Maligaya Park Subdivision in Barangay (village) Pasong Putik.

Aside from several stab marks, Gamayon’s right cheek was slashed and her left breast slashed with an X mark. Her left nipple was also missing from the crime scene.

Last month, neighbors heard the couple fighting often as the suspect believed his lover to be having an affair.

The woman had filed a complaint with the barangay after Balde went berserk and destroyed some of her belongings.

Neighbors also learned that the woman wanted to leave the suspect but was being threatened every time she tried to leave him.

On Sunday night, the victim’s neighbor was walking home when she passed by the couple’s room.

She peeped through a gap in the door and saw Balde trying to stab Gamayon, but the neighbor ignored this and went home.

Inside her house, the neighbor overheard the couple arguing and the victim moaning for help moments later.

The suspect was seen leaving the room with a knife in his hand, police said.
