THE PHILIPPINE Tennis Association (Philta) has scheduled a total of 14 national and international matches for the men’s and juniors divisions in its calendar for next year.
Ushering in the year will be the 25th Andrada Cup, a Philta Group 1 tilt to be held at the Rizal Memorial Tennis Center, Manila on Jan. 6 to 12 followed by the Philippines versus Sri Lanka Davis Cup Tie in Sri Lanka on Jan. 31 to Feb. 2.
The first international event in 2014 will be the 25th Mitsubishi-Lancer International Juniors (Grade 1) tournament on March 17 to 23 at the Rizal Memorial Tennis Center, Manila followed by the US$15K ITF Men’s Futures tournament on Mar. 24 to 30 at an unknown venue yet.
The 15th Tru-Flex National Age Group (Group 1) tilt will follow next on Mar. 31 to Apr. 6 still with no venue set.
On April 7 to 13, action swings to Baguio for the Juntaphil Barcelona Cup Junior tennis tournament (Group 2) at Burnham Park, Baguio City followed by the Alina-Cebuana Lhuillier National Age Group 2014 (Group 2) – Alina Tennis Center, San Pablo City, Laguna on April 7 to 13 and the Angeles City Age Group (Group 2) in Angeles City, Pampanga on April 21 to 27.
Next will be the April 28 to May 4 Alabang 1018 Age Group (Group 2) to be held at the AAAC in Muntinlupa City followed by the May 5 to 11 First Gen Metro Age Group at the Rizal Memorial Tennis Center, Manila and the Philta-Toby’s Age Grp. Tennis Challenge (Group 2) also at the Rizal Memorial Tennis Center on May 12 to 18.
A short lull will follow before action resumes at RMTC for the Phinma International Juniors Week on Nov. 17 to 23 and on Nov. 24 to 30 for its second edition followed by the year-ending PSC- PHILTA National Age Group- (Group 1) at the Rizal Memorial Tennis Center on Dec.15 to 21. /Correspondent Jade S.
