AROUND 500 runners will answer today’s starting gun for the 35th year of the “Halad Kang Mano Amon Run” in Danao City, northern Cebu.
Race director Oscar “Boying” Rodriguez, grandson of Danao City’s grand old man Ramon “Mano Amon” Durano Sr., said he is glad with the turnout of participants.
Around P70,000 worth of cash prizes will be given out to the winning runners participating in 12k, 6k and 3k categories.
Leading the horde of runners will be Danao City’s mayor, Ramon “Nito” Durano III, who will be joining the 6k distance.
The race is held annually to celebrate the birthday of Mano Amon.
According to Rodriguez, the top placers in the 12k will take home P5,000 while the first placers in the 6k will get P3,000./CORRESPONDENT DALE G. ROSAL
