MANILA, Philippines— Generally good weather with light rains in the afternoon or evening is expected on Christmas eve and Christmas day with no approaching storm on the radar, according to the state weather bureau.

The northeast monsoon, or “amihan” – cold wind blowing from Siberia – continues to affect Northern and Central Luzon, bringing clouds over those regions, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).

“We don’t see any tropical cyclone (including depressions, storms and typhoons) entering the Philippine area of responsibility this week,” said Pagasa forecaster Aldczar Aurelio.

He added that there would be generally fair weather on the 24th and 25th except for isolated rain showers.

The northeast monsoon remains the dominant weather system, spawning light rains over large parts of Luzon, Aurelio said.
