Ban on hammers in mall gets support

/ 07:22 AM December 21, 2013

THE  chief of the Police Regional Office in Central Visayas (PRO-7) is supporting the proposed regulation on buying hammers, baseball bats, dumbbells, and other objects that can be used for breaking glass display cases inside malls.

Doing this would help deter crimes, said Chief Supt. Danilo Constantino.

The proposal, which came up after the “Martilyo Gang” robbed a mall in Quezon City,  calls for buyers to claim the items only when they leave the establishment.

Constantino said hammers should only be given at the exit area.
