AGENTS of the National Bureau of Investigation and the Provincial Women’s Commission (PWC) yesterday went to Danao city to serve an order against a Norwegian accused of mauling his wife.
He was not at home when the court order was served.
The order prohibits Madsen from getting in close proximity to his Filipina wife with whom he has two children.
The order stays until Dec. 23. The wife earlier sought the assistance of the PWC.
Cebu Vice Gov. Agnes Magpale, head of the PWC, said the court order was issued last October 2013 but they were unable to enforce it right away due to the earthquake and typhoon Yolanda that hit Cebu and the Visayas.
The wife’s lawyer Joel Ouano sought an extension from the court for the implementation of the order and was granted.
“With this order, the wife may return to her home and her spouse can’t come near her,” Magpale said.
The order has a lifetime of 30 days.
Last August, the complainant went to the PWC office to seek assistance about her spouse’s conduct.
“I had her complaint evaluated and we found out that she was really physically abused by her husband,” Magpale said.
Charges of violating Republic Act 9262 or the Anti-Violence Against Women and their Children Act of 2004 were filed against the Norweigian national with the Danao City Prosecutors’ Office.
The complaint was later filed in Regional Trial Court. Reporter Ador Vincent Mayol
