Malaysian NGO donates cash

THE Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) in Central Visayas recently received a check for 17,815 Malaysian Ringgits equivalent to P239,694.90 from Amitabha Malaysia, a charity organization.

“We are grateful for the generosity of the Malaysian people towards our countrymen especially to the survivors of supertyphoon Yolanda,” said DSWD Assistant Regional Director Nemia Antipala.

“Rest assured this cash donation will reach the affected families,” Antipala added.

Jeffrey Lim, president of Amitabha Malaysia, said the Amitabha Disaster Relief Team (ADRT) is always prepared to respond to a disaster.

“We are in a very strong position to help the people affected by typhoon Yolanda. Everyone at Amitabha Malaysia was deeply moved by the scenes of devastation in the Philippines,” Lim said.
