CCSC to add beach volley court in Plaza Independencia
WITH the success of the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) Women’s Beach Volleyball League last Nov. 26 at the Fort San Pedro sand court in the Plaza Independencia playgrounds, the Cebu City Sports Commission (CCSC) is expected to add another sand court at the venue to accommodate more participants in upcoming tournaments next year.
“We are adding another beach volleyball sand court at Fort San Pedro since the sport has become very popular due to the participation of over 220 women players coming from the barangays, public schools and the private sector during the month-long competition recently,” Hayco said.
Hayco said before that the future of beach volleyball in Cebu is very bright and the addition of another court will help further boost the popularity of the sport here.
PSC beach volley consultant Eric Lecain, for his part, was quoted in earlier reports as saying that the PSC-sponsored tournament saw “a huge boost in the beach volleyball program in Cebu.”
The date of the 2014 year-opening tournament of the sport, though, is still not set but Hayco said it may be held middle of next month. /Correspondent JADE S. VIOLETA
