Village councilor thwarts slay try

/ 04:54 AM December 18, 2013

An alert barangay (village) councilor thwarted an attempt on his life after as he shot it out with three motorcycle-riding hired killers who strafed his eatery Tuesday morning in Quezon City.

Not only did Pedro Salazar Jr. of Barangay Roxas District come out of the slay attempt unscathed, he also managed to wound one of his assailants who escaped.

Kamuning police station commander Supt. Limuel Obon said the shooting took place at Salazar’s eatery on Dahlia Street at 9:10 a.m. This was also where barangay watchman Rogelio Panti, 48, was gunned down by motorcycle-riding gunmen on Nov. 11 while he was with Salazar.

This made Salazar more alert to the people around him. On Tuesday, he was at his eatery when he noticed three men on two motorcycles roaming around the area, prompting him to get his firearm from his house.—Julie M. Aurelio
