PSH extends medical help, relief assistance to calamity victims

PERPETUAL Succour Hospital’s (PSH) staff, religious and doctors have successfully reached out to the calamity victims in Cebu and Leyte.
The team headed by Sr. Myrna Borromeo, SPC, distributed more than 5,000 pieces of 1 liter bottled water in Bohol and some areas in Leyte, northern Cebu, Ormoc, Cagayan de Oro, Camotes and Eastern Samar.
Last Nov. 23, the PSH Medical Alumni Association, together with All-Terrain Medical Relief Organization (AMRO) organized a medical-surgical mission in Medellin town, northern Cebu, in cooperation with GMA Kapuso Network, which sponsored the relief packs.
Around 1,000 residents, both children and adults, availed of free medical checkup and medicines. They also received relief packs during the medical-surgical mission spearheaded by Dr. Teresito Gabutin, Dr. Jesselito Simporios, Dr. Wyben Briones and Dr. Nestor Ceniza and assisted by Sisters Claire Escañan, Carmelita Buot and Hazel Tabada, some resident doctors and nurses.
Another medical mission and relief operation was sponsored by the PSH Cebu Cancer Institute in Palo, Leyte last Nov. 30. It was spearheaded by Dr. Jemela Sanchez, Dr. Lynda Mae Lepatan and Dr. Nello Roa Jr. IV, together with Sister Escañan, Sr. Cristy Joy Salimbagat and Sister Tabada, some resident doctors, nurses and pharmacists.
At least 212 adults and 200 children availed of the free consultations. They were also provided with medicines, hygiene kit, blanket and relief packs.
Aside from providing medical assistance, Sr. Cristy Joy facilitated a critical incident stress debriefing for the children who were traumatized by the catastrophe. An artwork session was also conducted for the children to help overcome their trauma.
