On a street often referred to as Kalye Impyerno, hell was indeed unleashed on a Navotas City household Friday.
An 18-year-old pregnant woman and her parents were shot dead by her former live-in partner, who in a fit of jealousy broke into their home in Barangay San Roque, police said.
Senior Supt. Conrado Gongon, chief of the Navotas police, identified the victims as Joecyl Denolang, a sales lady; her father Cecillo, a 55-year-old fisherman; and her mother Rosa Leticia, 50.
The suspect, Jay “Jiji” Amar, Joecyl’s former live-in partner, fled after the shooting and remained at large.
Amar was also the victims’ neighbor on a street officially listed as Everlasting Extension but is also known among locals as Kalye Impyerno for its past notoriety as a haven for drug dealers, robbery gangs and even suspected terrorists. Local officials now maintain that this is no longer the case.
Around 7:30 a.m. on Friday, Amar barged into the Denolang residence after learning that Joecyl was living with another man, according to Gongon.
Armed with two pistols (a .45-cal. and a 9-mm), Amar shot Joecyl and her parents at pointblank range, hitting them all in the head. Rosa Leticia died on the spot while the two other victims were later pronounced dead at Tondo General Hospital.
Joecyl’s new partner, identified as Arjay Cruz, was on the second floor of the house when Amar attacked.
