PH top netters open bids in Palawan tennis

SOME of the best junior netters in the country will start their respective quests for glory today when the Palawan Pawnshop’s 2013 President’s Cup National Age Group tennis tournament opens at the Olivarez Sports Center in Sucat, Parañaque.

A total of 190 age group players have registered for the event, which will last up to Dec. 17.

Leading the list in the premier Boys’ 18-Under division are topseed Eric Jed Olivarez, no.2 Andrew Joshua Cano, no.3 Marcen Angelo Gonzales and no.4 Jerome Romualdez.

The 14-year-old Romualdez is a winner of two championship titles in the Palawan Pawnshop-OTR regional age-group tennis tournament last Oct.6 at the Consolacion Tennis Courts in Sitio Laray, Consolacion town.

Also set to see action in the event, which is part of the year-round, nationwide circuit put up by Palawan Pawnshop COO Bobby Castro and Guillermo Nocom, president of Technosports, distributor of Babolat, are no.5 seed Luke Flores, no.6 Jose Nicolas Cano, no.7 Chris Justine Prulla and no.8 Emmanuel Fuellas. /Correspondent Jade S.
