MRT resumes operations

MANILA, Philippines–Metro Rail Transit operations resumed  late Thursday afternoon after being halted for several minutes by a technical glitch.

In the official Twitter of the Department of Transportattion and Communication’s MRT (@dotcmrt_3), it said MRT went back to its “Normal operations”  at 4:30 p.m.

An MRT Guadalupe station official who declined to be named told the INQUIRER.net that there was “a technical difficulty” at the system at the Magallanes station around 4 p.m.

For about 30 minutes, trains from Boni Avenue station to Taft vice versa were stalled causing inconvenience to MRT commuters.

But the MRT official said operations remained normal from North Avenue to Shaw Boulevard station.

The disruption occurred as public consultations over a proposed fare increase on the MRT and Light Rail Transit are ongoing.
