MANILA, Philippines—The camp of former president and now Pampanga Representative Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo on Thursday called Commission on Elections (Comelec) Chairman Sixto Brillantes Jr. a “liar.”

Lawyer Raul Lambino, chief of staff and legal counsel of Arroyo, issued the statement after the Comelec ordered over 400 local officials to vacate their positions after failing to submit their Statement of Contributions and Expenditures SOCE.

Lambino asked the Comelec to check and review its records.

According to Lambino, Arroyo never failed to submit her SOCE since he was a senator, vice-president, president and now as a congresswoman.

He said that they have all supporting documents proving that Arroyo has submitted her SOCE.

Lambino also accused the Comelec of becoming a tool of Malacañang to oust political opponents of the Aquino administration.
