1 dead, 5 hurt as crane falls on German supermarket

BAD HOMBURG, Germany—One person was killed and five others injured when a crane fell onto a discount supermarket in Bad Homburg, near Frankfurt, on Wednesday, crushing parts of the building, police said.

The cause of the accident was not yet clear, but the crane driver was seriously injured and flown to hospital, police said.

The identity of the dead person was not yet known because the body was trapped in the collapsed part of the supermarket and had not yet been recovered, they added.

Police said they did not expect the number of dead and injured to rise.
